Child Soldiers Can Help Their Countries
In the planned sequel to Virgin Soldier, a band of child soldiers left behind by King Agron must defend a world that believes the children to be too damaged to be rehabilitated, yet the former rebels are the only ones who can stop a renegade band of Soviet loyalists determined to re-establish a communist empire in Europe.
The issue of how to integrate former child soldiers into society is one discussed in the Harvard Public Health Reviews’ fall 2011 article, Life After Death: Helping Former Child Soldiers Become Whole Again. The article examines, how, rather than being a lost generation, the survival strategies of former child soldiers may help their traumatized countries recover as well.
